Step 9 - Final Assessment
The assessment will take place in
Please bring your trimming tools along with any record-keeping or business forms you usually use. I will role-play the client during the assessment and ask frequently asked questions about your observations trim. I am not trying to trick you, only to find out how you present yourself, and by association the AANHCP, to the client.
I will ask you to provide maintenance trims for two horses and set-up trims for 2 cadaver feet. Don’t worry. I’m not looking for the worst feet I can find.
In addition to the Official Trimming Guidelines of the AANHCP, I recommend reviewing the following resources:
Natural Horse Care Resources Bulletins
#101 Trimming for Natural Toe Angle, Heel Length, and Toe Length
#106 Rules of Rasping: Eliminating Wall Flare and splits, and Run-Under Heels
#107 The Correct Mustang Roll
#109 The Whole Horse Trim: Finding the Natural Hoof Within
These bulletins provide a deeper level of detail, beyond the Official Trimming Guidelines of the AANHCP (they are already part of the required learning materials). During this session I would also like to find out about interests you may have in supporting the AANHCP through work in the training program, or other skills and talents you would be willing to share in support of the AANHCP mission.
After our day together I will submit a report to our Executive Director who will consider this input in making a recommendation for certification to the Board of Directors.
The cost for this session is $450
