People know far more about effective communication and tactful training today than in the past. But there is no reason to stop there. Come travel further down the road of enlightened horsemanship to learn how things we do to and with horses affect their biology and, in turn, their physical and emotional well-being. It may surprise you but such information has great practical value—it provides a basis for making reasonable decisions that we can only guess at otherwise—decisions about things that go well beyond respect and obedience: It can help us understand how to ride to maximize the strength and endurance of a horse while minimizing the potential for damage and injury. It can tell us how to make horses less anxious and more enjoyable to handle and ride. It can help us make intelligent decisions about training methods, hoof care and boarding facilities. It can help us decide when and how to wean foals and when to start training under saddle. And a whole lot more. The symposium is jam-packed with information of value to horse owners of all levels and types, including those interested in breeding, showing, trail riding and so on. Come travel a trail with fascinating twists and turns as Bruce and Ann guide you through advanced topics in natural horsemanship.
Bruce is the author of the acclaimed book Ten Golden Rules of Horse Training and series of articles The Biology of Natural Horsemanship along with nearly 70 published articles. He teaches advanced horsemanship and riding under the auspices of Liberated HorsemanshipTM. In addition to Natural Horse Care Symposiums, Bruce conducts Lifeway & the Natural Hoof Clinics for the AANHCP—which pioneered natural hoof care. Bruce completed postgraduate studies of animal behavior and neuroendocrinology at Bucknell (MS), Rutgers (PhD), and Rockefeller Universities (Post-doctoral Fellow) and is a tenured faculty member Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.
As one of the keynote speakers at the 2008 AANHCP Symposium for the Humane and Natural Care of the Horse, Bruce was described as "another true giant" on the topic of Laminitis. Bruce is uniquely qualified to provide insight into horse keeping, training, and riding practices that repair, enhance and preserve your horse's physical and psychological wellbeing. Ann is an expert at describing and explaining complex natural phenomenon to the general public, with over 25 years of presentation experience since graduating with a B.S., Ed. from the University of Kansas. Working in both the public and private sectors, her communication skills and sincere approach have made her an effective trainer. Ann now devotes herself to improving the welfare of horses. She is an AANHCP certified hoof care practitioner and the founder of Beautiful Feet Natural Hoof Care. As an AANHCP Field Instructor she has already helped to train 150+ hoof care professionals. In recognition of her exceptional skills and knowledge, Ann was recently appointed an AANHCP Orientation Clinician, joining Dr. Bruce Nock, PhD; Dr. Neal Valk, DVM; and AANHCP Co-founder Richard Drewry in that capacity. In addition to her work with the AANHCP, Ann works to improve horse-human relations through her For the Love of Horses – An Introduction to Horsemanship clinic.

This Symposium event fee has been reduced to $30 in memory of Bruce's Morgan stallion, Gabriel Oak, who passed away unexpectedly on April 29
Refunds will be granted up to two weeks prior to the Symposium. A $20 processing fee will be deducted from each refund. No refunds will be granted within two weeks of the symposium
